How to Make Apple Pie Roses
Ingredients:
3 apples
2 sheets of puffed pastry, thawed
6 tablespoons of apricot preserve (or preserve of your choice)
4 tablespoons of water
Juice of 1/2 a lemon
Cinnamon Sugar
Step 1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees celsius. Slice apples in half from top to bottom, de-core and thinly slice.
Step 2. Fill a medium-sized bowl with water and lemon juice. Place the sliced apples into the water and microwave for 5 minutes until slightly soft. Drain the apples. Mix the preserve with water and set aside.
Step 3. Roll the pastry out with a rolling pin and cut each sheet into 6 equal slices. Spread some of the preserve mixture across each of the slices of pastry.
Step 4. Place the apple slices along one half of the pastry with the peel side facing out. Fold the pastry in half to cover the apples. Roll the pastry into a coil and place in a muffin tin. Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar.
Step 5. Bake until golden, at least 20 minutes. Sprinkle with a little icing sugar, if desired. Note: Place a pan of water on the bottom rack of the oven to avoid burning.
Enjoy!
